6 Common Problems with Food Processors
Won't Turn On:
Typically, this occurs when the bowl and lid are not securely locked, activating the safety mechanism.
Motor Overheating:
Running the motor for too long or overloading the bowl will cause it to cut out. Allow it to rest for 15 to 30 minutes.
Uneven Processing:
Large, uneven food chunks or overfilling can lead to uneven results. Use the pulse function for better control instead of continuous running.
Leaking Liquid:
The bowl may be too full, or the seal could be worn. Do not exceed the maximum liquid line.
Abnormal Noise/Vibration:
It is often caused by improperly installed blades or by processing excessively hard foods, such as coconut shells and hard nuts.
Food Stuck/Not Processing:
The blades might be dull or the food could be too dense. Pause, scrape down the sides, and cut the food into smaller, uniform pieces.

Small food processors are perfect for tasks such as chopping herbs, while medium-sized food processors are versatile enough to handle most kitchen duties, including chopping fruits and vegetables and making dough. Large-capacity food processors can manage a wide range of tasks, making them ideal for preparing meals for large families or groups.
A 10 to 13-cup food processor offers ample space to knead dough and allows it to rise right in the work bowl. These food processors are perfect for a variety of tasks, including chopping, mixing, puréeing, slicing, shredding, and kneading. Additionally, they can handle larger foods more easily thanks to their wider feed tubes.
Motor power in food processors typically ranges from 250 to 1,300 watts. When deciding on the appropriate motor power for your needs, consider the types of foods you plan to process. A smaller motor may not be sufficient for hard ingredients like potatoes or dense dough, which could lead to burnout.
